The Department of Chemistry and Biochemistry invites applications for a tenure track Assistant Professor position in Chemistry beginning January 2023. Full time teaching load will include courses and labs ranging from introductory chemistry to upper-division biochemistry, alongside expectations for department service and establishing a successful research program. The position is contingent upon available funding and a satisfactory background check.

The successful candidate will provide (1) evidence of effectiveness in teaching undergraduate courses and labs in general chemistry and biochemistry and (2) experience and/or goals for future contributions to student growth and professional development both in and outside of classes/labs. A Ph.D. in Biochemistry or a closely related field is required. Department programs include an ACS-certified Chemistry undergraduate degree along with a relatively new bachelor’s degree program in Biochemistry, with 70-80 undergraduate majors total. A particular department focus is on providing students with distinctive research and professional development experiences.

The department is committed to advancing diversity in all areas of faculty effort at a predominantly undergraduate institution including research, teaching, and service/engagement. Candidates should address at least one of these areas in their cover letter, indicating past experiences, current interests or activities, and/or future goals to promote a climate that values diversity and inclusion.
