About the opportunity

 

 

 

We are seeking to appoint a Lecturer to carry out research in the area of peptide and protein science, and to contribute to teaching within the School of Chemistry.

 

 

Your key responsibilities will be to:

 

 

 

contribute to knowledge within discipline or area of expertise in peptide and protein chemistry.

  • engage in high quality teaching and learning experiences (at undergraduate, Honours and postgraduate level) that meet the University’s expectations and standards for education design and deliver quality educational programs and experiences that support student needs and meet curriculum requirements influence outstanding teaching and learning outcomes contribute to the research, education, and administrative activities of the School and University develop an academic profile through conferences, seminars and outreach activities
  • contribute to a positive workplace culture and the strategic direction of the University.

The School also hosts the University of Sydney node of the ARC Centre of Excellence in Peptide and Protein Science (CIPPS). CIPPS is a nationally funded consortium of six Australian universities, led by UQ, with nodes at The University of Sydney, The Australian National University, Monash University, Queensland University of Technology, and Edith Cowan University. Funded through a seven-year $35M grant and an additional $54M in cash and in-kind contributions from the Centre’s national and international partners, the Centre aims to unleash the potential of peptides and proteins for human benefit. About you

Lecturer who has:

 

 

 

  • a PhD in Chemistry (or a closely-related discipline) and relevant experience an ability to contribute to high quality and innovative chemistry teaching at undergraduate, honours and postgraduate levels in lecture, tutorial, and laboratory settings. Preference may be given to candidates with experience in teaching organic chemistry a demonstrated ability to undertake high quality independent research in the area of peptide and protein chemistry an ability to supervise students at the undergraduate and postgraduate levels an ability to undertake administration primarily relating to staff member’s activities at the University excellent written and verbal communication skills ability to contribute to School’s Professional & Community Engagement activities
