Full time Continuing, located on the Camperdown Campus at the School of Chemistry Opportunity to join and make valuable contributions to research and teaching in the School of Chemistry Base Salary Level B/C $113,184 p.a. - $159,867 p.a. + 17% superannuation

About the opportunity

 

 

 

The School of Chemistry wishes to make an appointment to strengthen its teaching and research capacity in a female only, Level B / C, Lecturer / Senior Lecturer position.  The successful candidate will have suitable expertise and experience to teach in the general areas of chemistry and have research interests that align with one or more of our research themes.

We expect the candidate to apply their learnings through research and scholarly activity to inform their education and research practice.  As a Lecturer/Senior lecturer, the candidate will build a distinctive research program in their area of expertise.

 

Part-Time arrangements are negotiable upon request.

 

Your key responsibilities will be to:

 

 

 

contribute to knowledge through high quality research.

  • engage in high quality teaching and learning experiences (at undergraduate, Honours and postgraduate level) that meet the University’s expectations and standards for education design and deliver quality educational programs and experiences that support student needs and meet curriculum requirements influence outstanding teaching and learning outcomes contribute to the research, education, and administrative activities of the School and University
  • develop an academic profile through conferences, seminars and outreach activities contribute to a positive workplace culture and the strategic direction of the University.

The School of Chemistry at the University of Sydney is a leading Chemistry department in the country, with outstanding staff and students undertaking world-leading teaching and research.  With more than 30 academic staff, 100 research staff, and 100 research students we conduct research across the full spectrum of pure and applied chemistry.  Our research excellence is recognised by numerous prizes and awards to individual staff members and the award of almost $10 million in research funding each year.  With the support of over 30 professional, technical and administrative staff, the School of Chemistry administers and delivers undergraduate teaching for more than 3 000 students.  We are committed to creating a diverse workplace by improving equity, access and opportunity, and we are continuously working to identify and remove biases and barriers in an effort to make our workplace open, supportive and safe for everyone.

About you

Lecturer/Senior Lecturer who has:

 

 

 

  • a PhD in chemistry (or a closely-related discipline) and relevant experience an ability to contribute to high quality and innovative chemistry teaching at undergraduate, honours and postgraduate levels in lecture, tutorial, and laboratory settings demonstrated ability to undertake high quality independent research in their discipline / area of expertise ability to supervise students at the undergraduate and postgraduate levels experience in supervising or mentoring others and/or coordinating team activities ability to undertake administration primarily relating to staff member’s activities at the University excellent written and verbal communication skills ability to contribute to School’s Professional & Community Engagement activities.

 

The commencement level will be determined based on the candidate’s skills, experience, and knowledge.
