The SCHOOL OF CHEMISTRY AND BIOCHEMISTRY of the GEORGIA INSTITUTE OF TECHNOLOGY invites applications for a 12-month, non-tenure track faculty position (lecturer track) to lecture in our undergraduate analytical and general chemistry courses and serve as part of the department’s undergraduate advising team.
Georgia Tech is a top-ranked public research university situated in midtown Atlanta. The Institute prides itself on its technology resources, collaborations, high-quality student body, and its commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion.
The position will develop and deliver lecture instruction (13-15 credit hours total per year) for undergraduate courses in analytical chemistry (Quantitative Analysis, CHEM 2216, and Analytical Chemistry, CHEM 3216), and first-year general chemistry (CHEM 1310, CHEM 1211K, CHEM 1212K). At least one course in both the Fall and Spring semesters will be in the area of analytical chemistry. The course coverage and assessment tools will be coordinated amongst the other faculty who teach these lectures, and their corresponding laboratories, so that students have a uniform high quality experience regardless of instructor. However, the delivery method is at the discretion of the instructor and we strongly encourage applicants with interests in evidence based instructional methods and chemistry education research. The position will also provide academic advising to 40-50 of our approximately 400 undergraduate majors.
Application review will begin on September 15, 2022, and continue until the position is filled. A start date prior to January 1, 2023 is desired. A Ph.D. in chemistry or biochemistry with relevant interest and experience is required. A cover letter, CV, statement of teaching philosophy, and a description of past experience and/or future plans to promote diversity and inclusion should be submitted via Georgia Tech’s Employment website, https://hr.gatech.edu/employment/careers. Once there, click the link under the “External Applicants” section, then click on “View All Jobs”, type in the Job ID 245760 in the “Search Job” field and click enter. Select highlighted job posting to open. Click “Apply for Job” button to create a new user registration and apply for the position. Three academic letters of recommendation should be sent by your referees to angus.wilkinson@chemistry.gatech.edu with the subject line “JobID 245760, CANDIDATE’S LAST NAME”
Requests for further information should be directed to Prof. Angus P. Wilkinson, School of Chemistry and Biochemistry, Georgia Tech, angus.wilkinson@chemistry.gatech.edu
