JOB SUMMARY: Garden State Laboratories, Inc. is seeking a full-time Inorganics Laboratory Manager who will report to the Operations Manager located in the Hillside, NJ office. The Inorganics Laboratory Manager will be responsible for all aspects of laboratory management as determined by management. This job will be different from one day to the next as work-flow dictates. Work will include all aspects of laboratory operation from researching new methods, preparing SOPS, ordering supplies, preparing laboratory documentation records, assisting in analysis of select procedures and reviewing completed results.
- The Technical Managers report to the Operations Manager and are responsible for: Coordinating laboratory analyses. Supervising in-house chain-of-custody. Scheduling sample analyses. Overseeing data review. Overseeing preparation of analytical reports. Approving final analytical reports prior to submission. Performing an Annual Management System Review. Certifying personnel with appropriate educational and/or technical background perform all tests for which the laboratory is accredited. Monitoring standards of performance in quality control and quality assurance. Monitoring the validity of the analyses performed and data generated in the laboratory to assure reliable data. Ensuring that enough qualified personnel are employed to perform the work of the laboratory. Performing a final review of all analytical results before they are released for printing. Training newly employed personnel to perform the assigned duties. Generating Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for his/her department Updating the SOPs when necessary.
- Degree in a chemical, physical, biological, or environmental science from an accredited institution. Have at least one year of laboratory experience in the chemical analysis of drinking water, non-potable water, solid and chemical materials, air and/or emissions, or biological tissue samples. For chemical Testing in Metals, Metals – ICP, ICP/MS and DCP, Metals Preparation Categories, Inorganics – Metals Analysis, and Asbestos Analysis Categories: DW05-DW07, NPW05-NPW08, SCM04-SCM07, AE02-AE03, AE07, and BT02-BT04. Must have three (3) months of experience in performing the following test for chemical testing in analyze-immediately and continuous monitoring Categories DW04 and NPW04, and Categories DW03 & NPW03 for turbidity and residue-settleable. For Chemical Testing in Inorganic Parameters, Characteristics of Hazardous Waste and Physical Analyses, Inorganic Parameters and Preparation, and Inorganics – Non-Metals Analysis Categories: DW03, NPW03, SCM02-03, AE01, and BT01.
