Job Details

The Princeton Institute for the Science and Technology of Materials (PRISM) seeks to appoint a full-time Lecturer in Materials Science and Engineering with an expected start date of January 16, 2023, with the option for annual reappointment based on sufficient course enrollments and strong positive performance. The successful candidate will be expected to teach core courses in materials science and engineering at both the undergraduate and graduate levels, to assist with elective and laboratory courses, and to develop new courses or course components related to materials science and engineering. In addition, the Lecturer will be expected to participate in the management of the undergraduate and graduate programs within the institute, including development/management of PRISM teaching laboratories, course advising, mentoring, and other educational outreach activities.

We are looking for an experienced Lecturer who has demonstrated excellence in the classroom. The successful candidate will be expected to create a climate that embraces inclusivity and diversity, with a strong commitment to teaching and mentoring; one that incorporates creative approaches to teaching that enhance the students’ learning experiences. Although not required, high-level research experience as reflected in peer-reviewed publications in the field of materials science and engineering is considered a plus.

Applicants should submit a cover letter, curriculum vitae, statement of teaching experience/philosophy, diversity/equity/inclusion statement, and any additional material relevant to the applicant’s teaching abilities (such as prior teaching evaluations, student comments, etc.). Contact information for at least three references should also be included.

Essential Qualifications: The successful candidate must have an advanced degree, with Ph.D. or equivalent preferred, in materials science, physics, chemistry, engineering, or a related field, and classroom teaching experience with demonstrated excellence in teaching courses in materials science.

Application Deadline: Applicants will be considered until the position is filled, but to guarantee full consideration, please apply by October 15, 2022.

This position is subject to Princeton University’s background check policy.
