Assistant Professor/Associate Professor in Food Technology and Engineering

Young and research-intensive, Nanyang Technological University (NTU Singapore) is ranked 19th globally and 1st among the world’s best young universities. NTU is also placed 4th globally for Engineering and Technology.

The new interdisciplinary school, School of Chemistry, Chemical Engineering and Biotechnology (CCEB) (formed by integrating the Division of Chemistry and Biological Chemistry from the School of Physical and Mathematical Sciences (SPMS) with the School of Chemical and Biomedical Engineering (SCBE)) invites applicants to apply for tenure-track faculty position at the Assistant Professor/Associate Professor level.

Applicants should hold a Ph.D. in Food Science, Food Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Materials Science, Bioengineering or a related field by the beginning of the appointment period. Candidates with post-doctoral training would be preferred.

The School is particularly interested in candidates with research interest in the areas of Food Technology and Engineering, who can collaboratively contribute to the Singapore national vision of ‘30 by 30’ goal, i.e., producing 30 % of its nutritional needs locally by 2030. The successful candidate will be expected to use a multi-disciplinary approach to develop a nationally and internationally recognized research program with expertise in Food Technology and Engineering in one or more of the following areas, but not limited to:

  • Food Biotechnology

  • Protein Synthesis and Separation

  • Gut microbiome bioengineering

  • Food Processing and Manufacturing

  • Food and Beverage Digitalisation

  • Food Waste Management

  • Smart Materials for Food Packing and Sensors

  • Sustainable Aqua-/Agri-culture

The candidate for the position should have a demonstrated excellence in original research, with good publication records and the ability to teach core bioengineering courses. Entrepreneurial qualities are also sought after.

Exceptional candidates in other fields of food-related engineering and science will also be considered.

The commencing salary will depend on the candidates' qualifications, experience, and the level of appointment offered.
