The Department of Chemical and Biomolecular Engineering (http://cbe.nd.edu) at the
University of Notre Dame invites applications for a tenured or tenure-track position from
individuals with research interests in analytical science and engineering (AS&E). Our primary
focus is on appointments at the Assistant or Associate Professor level; however, outstanding
candidates at all levels are encouraged to apply. The successful candidate will lead a research
program emphasizing the application of chemical engineering principles to address forefront
problems in (bio)chemical measurement science, including but not limited to: sensors,
micro/nanofluidics, point-of-use devices, data science, bioseparations, and biomolecular
engineering and synthetic biology to identify novel biomarkers. The environment for AS&E at
Notre Dame is enriched by the Department’s Diagnostics research pillar and by cross-
disciplinary programs including the Berthiaume Institute for Precision Health
(https://precisionhealth.nd.edu/), the NSF-funded Center for Bioanalytic Metrology
(https://cbm.nd.edu/), and the Indiana Consortium for Analytical Science and Engineering
(https://icase.center/).
Candidates are asked to provide a cover letter, curriculum vitae, a comprehensive research
plan, a statement of teaching philosophy and interests, and a statement concerning their
commitment to advancing diversity and equity within the academic setting. Junior candidates
should also arrange for the submission of at least three letters of recommendation; senior
candidates are welcome to apply in confidence. All materials should be submitted to the
application website (https://apply.interfolio.com/110608). Applications will be considered on a
rolling basis upon receipt but must be received by November 1, 2022 to receive full
consideration.
The department seeks to attract, develop, and retain the highest quality faculty, staff and
administration. We are especially interested in candidates who will contribute to the diversity
and excellence of the University’s academic community through their research, teaching, and
service. The University is an Equal Opportunity and Affirmative Action employer; we strongly
encourage applications from women, minorities, veterans, individuals with a disability and
those candidates attracted to a university with a Catholic identity.
