Los Alamos National Laboratory (LANL) is a multidisciplinary research institution engaged in science and engineering on behalf of national security. We are currently seeking highly motivated, productive and multi-talented Bio-Analytical Chemist to pursue research within a growing team of scientists working on mass spectrometry analysis of biomolecules at LANL in Los Alamos, NM. In this role, duties include:

  • Researching and developing multidisciplinary projects involving biosecurity, biophysical chemistry and structural biology Developing and implementing new mission-relevant programs Testing and validating methods and communicating results through formal presentations and peer-reviewed publications Collaborating with scientists in other departments to complete projects

 

 

Qualifications

 

  • Bachelor's or master’s degree in a STEM field from an accredited college or university 4-6 years of related experience, such as post-doctoral research experience at a university or national lab, or equivalent experience directly related to the occupation Professional experience in following areas: analytical chemistry, mass spectrometry, liquid chromatography and biomolecular analysis Knowledge and/or experience with robotic sample preparation for high sample volume throughput Demonstrated record of interactions with government funding agencies and fundraising Experience writing proposals, collaborating with colleagues and working with customers Active Q-clearance or ability to obtain Q-clearance

 

 

Desired Qualifications:

 

  • Experience with multiple ambient ionization techniques including MALDI, ESI, Nanospray, DBDI, SESI and EI Experience in mass spectrometry based multi-omics, data acquisition methods and interpretation of results, as well as the ability to apply MS-based omics to samples derived from in vitro, in vivo and organ-on-a-chip systems PhD. in a STEM field Experience in biological materials with a focus on natural product synthesis and synthetic method development
