Research Scientist (Ph.D. Organic Chemist)

Position Summary:

Research scientists carry out independent research on lipid synthesis, natural product extraction and product purification.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities: include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

Synthetic reaction setup and workup, natural product extraction, column chromatography, crystallization, rotary evaporation, lyophilization, literature search, research planning and execution, analysis of research results and e-notebook maintenance.

Non-Essential Duties: Lab equipment and chemical reagent maintenance, working space and equipment sanitation.

Supervisory Responsibilities: Supervise research associates and assistants assigned to the chemist

Education and/or Experience:  M.S. or Ph.D. degree in organic chemistry with experience in synthesis and characterization.

Certificates, Licenses, Registrations:  None

Skills and Abilities: Synthetic route design and execution, working knowledge on NMR, MS, HPLC, GC, TLC and other common analytical methods

Other Qualifications: Proficiency in Windows, Office, ChemDraw, SciFinder and Enotebook software

Physical Demands: Able to lift 50 lb and long period of standing.

Work Environment: Chemistry research and manufacturing laboratory
