TENURE-TRACK POSITION IN ORGANIC CHEMISTRY OR MATERIALS CHEMISTRY

THE W.M. KECK SCIENCE DEPARTMENT

CLAREMONT MCKENNA, PITZER, AND SCRIPPS COLLEGES

The Keck Science Department seeks to hire a tenure-track teacher-scholar who will teach in the area of organic chemistry or materials chemistry (broadly defined).

We seek a chemist with a clear capacity for and dedication to excellence in teaching, who will develop a vibrant research program that fully engages undergraduate students, and who possesses a demonstrated commitment to promoting diversity, equity, and inclusion in chemistry. The appointment will be at the Assistant Professor level and will begin on July 1, 2023. The Department, which houses the biology, chemistry, physics, neuroscience, and environmental science faculty for Claremont McKenna, Pitzer, and Scripps Colleges (three of the five undergraduate Claremont Colleges), offers innovative and interdisciplinary programs in the natural sciences. Many faculty actively participate in collaborative research projects, both within the department and with research groups at nearby colleges and universities. The position offers opportunities to teach organic, general, and/or to participate in an advanced chemistry laboratory sequence, and to design and teach both upper-level electives and courses for non-science majors. A Ph.D. and a record of scholarly publication are required. Postdoctoral experience is preferred.

Please apply online at http://apply.interfolio.com/112640. Upload: (1) a cover letter describing your interest in and summarizing your capacity for the position, (2) a curriculum vitae, (3) a description of your proposed undergraduate-centered research program, (4) a statement describing your approach to teaching and your pursuit of excellence in teaching, (5) a description of how you have fostered and will foster the promotion of diversity, equity, and inclusion, and (6) the names and e-mail addresses of three references. Please notify your three references that we will require letters of recommendation promptly should you advance to the semifinalist stage. Inquiries regarding the position may be e-mailed to Professor Nancy Williams at nwilliams@kecksci.claremont.edu. Additional information about the department may be found at www.kecksci.claremont.edu. Review of applications will begin September 26th, 2022, and the position will remain open until filled.

The Keck Science Department of Claremont McKenna, Pitzer, and Scripps Colleges is an equal-opportunity employer. In a continuing effort to enrich its academic environment and provide equal educational and employment opportunities, the department actively encourages applications from women and members of historically under-represented social groups in higher education.
