The College of Natural Sciences and Mathematics at the University of Toledo seeks to fill a 12-month Program Director of Data Science faculty position at the Associate or Full Professor level. This position has primary responsibilities in overseeing a newly established interdisciplinary undergraduate Data Science program, including curriculum, developing new data science offerings with growth potential at both the undergraduate and graduate level, and serving as the primary advisor for Data Science students. The Program Director will work with an internal advisory committee, cultivate relationships with external stakeholders and develop internship and/or co-op opportunities. The Program Director will also teach in the program, and maintain an active graduate level research program aligned with data science. The successful candidate will hold a Ph.D. in one of the Natural Sciences, or Mathematics/Statistics, and must be tenure-eligible in one of the Departments of the College of Natural Sciences and Mathematics.  A minimum of 5 years experience as a research-active externally funded faculty member whose research focuses on the development and deployment of tools and analysis of data from large data sets as applied to their specific discipline is required.

The College of Natural Sciences & Mathematics at the University of Toledo includes the Department of Biological Sciences, the Department of Chemistry & Biochemistry, the Department of Environmental Sciences, the Department of Mathematics & Statistics, and the Department of Physics & Astronomy.  The College is home to 4 Ph.D. programs in Biology, Chemistry, Mathematics, and Physics. Faculty in the Department of Chemistry and Biochemistry have research interests covering all areas of chemistry, including analytical, biological and biochemical, inorganic, materials, organic, and physical chemistry, as well as interdisciplinary data science intensive research such as computational chemistry, bioinformatics and X-ray crystallographic structure determination.
