Assistant Professor Analytical Chemistry tenure track

Position: The Department of Chemistry at Northern Michigan University is looking for an Assistant Professor This is a campus-based, tenure-track position open to individuals specializing in analytical chemistry.

Teaching assignments will primarily include senior-level gas chromatography, liquid chromatography, and atomic spectrometry instrumentation courses and sophomore-level analytical chemistry courses, but may also include other courses dependent on departmental needs or candidate's expertise.  While teaching is considered the primary responsibility for full-time faculty at Northern Michigan University, expectations also include establishing a research program that would actively involve undergraduates and appropriate levels of departmental and university service.

The Department of Chemistry has nineteen full-time faculty and offers undergraduate degrees in ACS-certified chemistry, biochemistry, forensic biochemistry, and medicinal plant chemistry.  The department has a proud history of hands-on undergraduate analytical chemistry education and boasts a substantial suite of instrumentation for a university of our size, including three LC-MS/MS, three GC-MS, four GC-FID, three LC-PDA, and three ICP-MS instruments used by students in the senior-level courses along with faculty and student researchers.  Further information about the department can be found at http://www.nmu.edu/chemistry.
