BIC is a fully integrated biotechnology incubator with dedicated discovery scientists, venture investors and operational support teams to breed the next generation of leading biotech companies with potential breakthrough discovery platform or therapeutics. The chemistry lab head plays a key role in leading one or more scientific projects of the research team as potential for the next breakthrough therapeutics in close partnership with other functions at IC. The successful candidate for this position must have strong scientific foundation in organic chemistry or related disciplines.
The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience of developing structure-activity relationship (SAR) based on the defined project goal. Working knowledge or hands-on experience with drug discovery and development in a pharmaceutical or biotechnology company in preferred. A demonstrated track record of inventorship and/or publication in peer-reviewed scientific journals is essential.
The successful candidate should have broad knowledge of organic synthesis and an ability to solve difficult synthesis problems for self and other team members. The candidate should be energetic and motivated to learn and grow with the company.
Lead one or more early discovery projects from idea conception to proof of mechanism/concept or principle.
Identify and implement novel technologies to improve drug discovery efficiency at IC.
Effectively manage and operate the lab unit
Support the co-creation, operation and development of new company and/or resident of IC;
Mentor and coach other scientists at IC;
Support the branding of IC at scientific and investment communities;
Ph.D. in biology or related disciplines; post-doctoral experience is preferred
Familiar with a wide range of biological and/or pharmacological techniques to probe mechanism of action
Prior experience of leading target identification and validation is necessary
Prior experience of developing flow schemes to support SAR development is ideal
Prior experience of identifying patient tailoring strategy is a plus
Strong interpersonal capabilities and ability to build networks internal and external
