Assistant Professor of Instruction, Chemistry
The Department of Chemistry at Northwestern University is hiring an Assistant Professor of Instruction to serve as a member of our teaching track (non-tenure track) faculty. The successful candidate will be responsible for functions related to teaching, advising, scholarly activity, and contribution to the department's ACS-accredited undergraduate chemistry program; develop inquiry-based experiments and other approaches to improve student learning and persistence in laboratory courses and the corresponding lecture courses; develop or implement valid assessments of student learning in undergraduate chemistry courses. This position will also participate in teaching assistant training and mentoring, delivering laboratory lectures, conducting office hours, evaluating the academic progress of students, submitting course grades, and performing other administrative duties as required. Applicants must have completed a PhD in Chemistry, Chemical Education, or a related field, must have demonstrated excellence in teaching, experience in supervising/overseeing a laboratory, and have an interest in advancing and publishing educational innovations. This position is a full-time, benefits eligible, 9-month, continuing faculty position with an initial appointment of three years.
