The Department of Chemistry at the University of Hawai’i at Manoa invites applications for a tenure-track Organic Chemistry faculty position at the level of Assistant Professor. Exceptional candidates with a Ph.D. in Chemistry or closely related fields and with research and teaching interests in organic chemistry are encouraged to apply.  The University of Hawai’i at Manoa is an indigenous-serving institution, drawing students from a diverse population that includes those of Hawaiian, Pacific Islander, and Asian ethnicity. The new hire will lead a team of young scientists to develop a vigorous, externally funded research program.  We are especially interested in candidates whose research interests are responsive to the strategic needs of the State of Hawai’i and that synergize with existing strengths within the department and the university, including medicinal and pharmaceutical chemistry, discovery and synthesis of antibiotic or antitumor compounds, synthesis of novel organic materials, and green chemistry approaches to organic catalysis.  Information about current faculty research interests in the Department of Chemistry can be found at http://www.manoa.hawaii.edu/chem/.

Minimum qualifications include a PhD in Chemistry or a closely related field.  Desirable qualifications include postdoctoral research experience, a strong publication record that demonstrates research productivity, research plans that include a plan to obtain external research funding, a commitment to and track record of excellent teaching, and an ability to mentor both undergraduate and graduate student research.
