The Department of Chemistry at the University of Missouri, Columbia, MO, invites applications for a non-tenure-track Assistant Teaching Professor position to begin in the 2023-2024 academic year. Workload for this position is 60% teaching (2 courses per semester or their equivalent), 20% administration, and 20% outreach. The primary responsibilities involve instruction of non-majors, general chemistry, and organic chemistry lecture and laboratory courses. Most importantly of these courses are organic chemistry I and II labs. Administratively, the candidate will assist with the training of our graduate and undergraduate teaching assistants on laboratory techniques and safety. Finally, the candidate will help facilitate outreach activities to local K-12 schools to foster excitement for chemistry in elementary to high school students. Start date for the position is August 1, 2023, but June 1, 2023 is also possible if the candidate would like to assist with summer courses. Appointment term can be either 9-month (no summer courses) or 12-month (with summer courses). Compensation will be commensurate with experience and will be full-time salary with full-time benefits.  The term of this appointment will be three academic years with the possibility of renewal.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualification include a Ph.D. in Chemistry by appointment start date. Candidates will be evaluated on teaching experience, as well as experience with appropriate laboratory safety measures and practices.
