The Department of Chemical and Biochemical Engineering (CBE) at Rutgers University-New Brunswick seeks outstanding applicants for a tenured or tenure-track faculty position at the Assistant, Associate or Professor levels. Applicants should have a PhD in chemical engineering or a closely related discipline by position start date, a record of excellence in research, and a commitment to teaching and working with a diverse population of undergraduate and graduate students.

Candidates in all areas of chemical engineering research will be considered. We are especially interested in candidates whose work will synergize with existing expertise of the department. Those who work in theoretical and computational research, including data science, would especially align with departmental priorities. Current research in the department is clustered in the following areas: bioengineering (biotechnology, biomolecular engineering, protein engineering), energy and sustainability, pharmaceutical manufacturing, and nanostructured materials. Specific research programs cover topics such as catalysis, renewable energy, multiphase flows, complex fluids, biomaterials, nanomaterials, soft matter, drug delivery, metabolic engineering, enzyme engineering, biomass conversion, biomanufacturing, granular materials, multiscale molecular modeling, process systems engineering, and process optimization. Successful candidates will be expected to teach undergraduate and graduate courses in the field of chemical engineering.

CBE has 220 undergraduates and 130 graduate students, 19 tenured/tenure-track faculty, two teaching faculty and three research faculty. Our location in central New Jersey places us in the heart of one of the nation’s most active industrial and pharmaceutical corridors, in close proximity to globally established pharmaceutical companies, burgeoning biotech startups, and advanced manufacturing industries. Excellent research facilities are available via a variety of collaborative centers, institutes, and core facilities on campus, including Rutgers Energy Institute, Center for Structured Organic Particulate Systems, Catalyst Manufacturing Center, Institute for Materials Research, Center for Integrative Proteomics Research, Institute for Quantitative Biomedicine, Cancer Institute of New Jersey, and the RCSB Protein Data Bank headquartered at Rutgers University–New Brunswick, among many others. Rutgers Engineering faculty have access to a wide array of high-performance computing (HPC) resources.
