Job Details

Tenure-track faculty position in organic chemistry at Eastern Oregon University. This is a full-time position at the rank of assistant professor in the Department of Chemistry & Biochemistry in the College of Science, Technology, Mathematics and Health Sciences. Candidates should demonstrate a willingness to engage in high impact teaching, active scholarship, undergraduate research and outreach to the community. Candidates with experience in green chemistry are encouraged to apply.

Our program offers small class sizes, and one-on-one interaction with faculty, allowing students to maximize their learning experience. Our facilities provide faculty with modern instrumentation and dedicated research space.

Appointment begins September 16, 2023.

  • Teaching organic chemistry lecture and laboratory, as well as other chemistry courses, including organic spectroscopy. Faculty are responsible for teaching 36 load hours per academic year.
  • Operating a 400 MHz NMR and collaborating in ongoing support of other instrumentation, including GC-MS, HPLC, FTIR, UV-VIS, and polarimeter.
  • Candidates should be dynamic and innovative teachers who can also contribute to the program’s strengths in undergraduate research and community outreach. A nationally recognized ACS Student Chapter is in place at EOU and the successful candidate, in concert with the other chemistry faculty, is expected to support this activity.
  • The successful candidate will have a commitment to collegial collaboration within a small program, actively supporting our students in reaching their professional goals by providing academic and career advising, and assisting with recruiting efforts.
