Assistant Professor of Physical Chemistry

The Department of Chemistry invites applications for a full-time tenure-track position in Physical Chemistry at the rank of Assistant Professor, commencing on July 1st, 2023, or on a mutually agreed upon date. Salary will be commensurate with experience and qualifications.

The Department seeks an emerging scholar with a commitment to excellence in teaching and research. The successful candidate will hold a Ph.D. and relevant post-doctoral experience (or equivalent) in any area of experimental and/or theoretical Physical Chemistry (or closely related field). Applicants with research interests in the areas of sustainable energy/catalysis, materials/surface chemistry and biophysical chemistry are particularly encouraged to apply. The successful candidate is expected to develop and maintain an externally funded research program that is recognized at the national and international level, with a strong focus on undergraduate, graduate, and post-doctoral training. Moreover, the candidate will contribute to the vibrant nature of the Department of Chemistry through undergraduate and graduate teaching and through meaningful service supporting our academic and research activities.

The Department has 20 full time faculty members, and 9 Instructors. Established research strengths of the Department include the areas of biological and medicinal, materials, and environmental chemistry, offering opportunities for collaborations. Research in the Department of Chemistry is supported by state-of-the-art infrastructure including an NMR facility, the Manitoba Chemical Analysis Laboratory (MCAL), advanced microscopy, a newly established Cryo-EM facility, as well as the Centre for Oil and Gas Research and Development (COGRAD). The University hosts an extensive high performance computing infrastructure and the Manitoba Institute of Materials (MIM).
