Our focus is on inspiring boaters, makers, and craftspeople to create, maintain, and repair projects.  We’re a small company that punches above its weight class, and we’re constantly looking for new ways to innovate and grow. 

About the role

We’re looking for an entrepreneurial chemist to help TotalBoat in its next phase of evolution. This person will have the opportunity to build out and run our lab, optimize our research processes, and help develop future product lines. The Chemist will work closely with our heads of Product and of Operations, and will act as a subject matter expert on… well… the subject of ‘matter.’ 

On any given day, you might be working on:

• Using lab equipment to analyze the makeup of organic and inorganic compounds
• Developing and improving potential product lines
• Testing the quality of raw materials and finished products
• Collaborating with our vendor partner chemists

   

About you

If you’re an individual with a solid chemistry background who wants a bit more freedom - to build out a lab, revamp existing processes, and explore new veins of product development - then we’d love to talk with you.

Some more things that might be true about you:

• You have a bachelor’s degree in Chemistry, Biology, Chemical Engineering, Materials Science, or something similar
• You have 2 - 5 years of experience working with polymer formulations
• You have business experience with paint, epoxy, or adhesives (or all three!)
• You have a curious streak and love to learn
