The Department of Materials Science & Engineering invites applications for a tenure-track faculty position in Autonomous Materials Research. As part of a strategic, multi-disciplinary and multi-departmental hiring initiative, the College of Engineering is investing in hiring future leaders in autonomous system hardware, software, robotics, and control. With this posting, the Department of Materials Science and Engineering at the University of Wisconsin-Madison seeks new faculty at the Assistant Professor level in the area of autonomous materials research. Materials discovery and innovation can be greatly accelerated by integration of high-throughput and automated material synthesis, processing, characterization, and simulation with decision making by artificial intelligence and machine learning. Areas of interest include but are not limited to multicomponent blends and alloys, soft materials, composites, advanced manufacturing, high-throughput methods, and innovative applications of tools from data science and physics-augmented reduced order modeling.
