The Department of Physics, The University of Texas at El Paso (UTEP), seeks applications from highly qualified candidates for a tenure-track Clare Boothe Luce (CBL) Assistant Professor position in the area of materials physics related to Quantum computing and Quantum Science. CBL Professorships support women in STEM fields with the aim of advancing work to close the gender gap in STEM disciplines and across leadership roles in higher education and advance America’s scientific leadership (See: https://www.hluce.org/programs/clare-boothe-luce-program/). Subject to CBL approval and the foundation’s requirements for institutional support, the successful candidate will be designated as the Clare Boothe Luce (CBL) Assistant Professor in Physics. Applicants should hold a Ph.D. in Physics or a related STEM field, possess postdoctoral experience, have a strong record of research accomplishments, and possess strong verbal and written communication skills. The successful candidate will have demonstrated attention to promoting STEM education and research opportunities to pre-college, college and graduate students, should be able to establish and maintain an independent research program at UTEP that complements the existing research in the department, teach at both undergraduate and graduate levels, perform service to the Department, College and University, and engage in outreach activities. The new hire will be a core faculty of the Physics Graduate Program and instrumental in expanding the Quantum Science research in the Department of Physics. The university has committed to support of this position with generous start-up funds.
