Product development with color matching focus

The Impact You’ll Make in this Role
As a Product Development Specialist for EMSD’s adhesive products in consumer electronics (https://www.3m.com/3M/en_US/consumer-electronics-us/), you will have the opportunity to tap into your curiosity and collaborate with some of the most innovative and diverse people around the world. Here, you will make an impact by:

  • Leading fundamental color technology development with direct customer applications for key consumer electronics products   
  • Supporting winning business through constant color-based processes reevaluation and optimization to ensure high accuracy color matching and at fast pace
  • Bringing in extensive external color technology, and maintaining external engagement and expertise to enable disruptive new color-based technologies

 

Your Skills and Expertise 
To set you up for success in this role from day one, 3M requires (at a minimum) the following qualifications:

  • Associate degree or higher in science or engineering discipline (completed and verified prior to start) from an accredited institution
  • Experience in one of more of the following areas:  color matching of materials, color measurements, color equipment and related software (i.e., color libraries), colorant selections and related supply in a private, public, government, or military environment

 

Additional qualifications that could help you succeed even further in this role include:

  • Master’s degree or higher in Mechanical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Chemistry, Polymer Science, Polymer Engineering, Materials Science, Physics, Optics, or related field from an accredited institution
  • Experience with electronics customers or another relevant field
  • Experience in product development or use of thermoplastic or thermoset products or coatings

 

Work location:

  • Maplewood, MN

 

Travel: May include up to May include up to 25% domestic/international

Relocation Assistance: Authorized

 

Must be legally authorized to work in country of employment without sponsorship for employment visa status (e.g., H1B status).
