Junior Professor of Polymers for Electro-Optical and Sensor Applications

at salary grade W1 with tenure track to W3 to commence as soon as possible. This is a fixed-term civil service position.

We are looking for a scholar with development potential who can fully represent macromolecular chemistry in research and teaching in the future and complement and strengthen the profile of the University of Bayreuth in the field of polymer research.

In research, the future postholder should be experienced in current and promising fields of polymer research. Research activities should focus on the synthesis and structure-property relationships of novel functional macromolecules, their analytics, and their applications, especially in the field of electro-optical and sensory applications.

It is assumed that the successful applicant will acquire third-party funding for his/her research projects, e.g. within the framework of Collaborative Research Centres and programmes such as DFG grants, the DFG Emmy Noether Programme, or ERC grants. Close cooperation with existing research groups of the faculty and participation in the cross-faculty focus areas Polymer and Colloid Science and Advanced Materials as well as the Bavarian Polymer Institute (BPI), the Bayreuth Institute for Macromolecular Research (BIMF), and cross-university cooperation, especially in the IRTG OPTEXC and other currently proposed collaborative projects of the University of Bayreuth is expected.

The successful applicant should represent the teaching of macromolecular chemistry in its full breadth, e.g. in the bachelor’s programme Polymer & Colloid Chemistry and the master’s programme Polymer Science, as well as in other programmes, e.g. Sustainable Chemistry & Energy at the University of Bayreuth. The courses in the bachelor’s programmes are to be offered in German, in the master’s programmes mainly in English. Participation in the doctoral programme Polymer Science is planned.
