Assistant Professor of Chemistry

 

The Department of Natural and Mathematical Sciences at Morningside University is seeking applications for a two-year visiting appointment at the assistant professor level in Chemistry, to begin August 14, 2023.

 

Responsibilities:

 

  • Teaching a 2-semester, sophomore level Organic Chemistry sequence (with labs) each academic year.  Other teaching responsibilities may include upper-level undergraduate courses in the candidate’s area of specialization or a senior capstone course for senior level Biology and Chemistry students. Candidates will also teach in the university’s general education program as needed. Candidates should demonstrate experience teaching chemistry to undergraduate learners and a willingness and capacity for academic advising responsibilities as well as service to the university and broader community. Teaching load is 24 credits per academic year.

Qualifications:

 

  • Applicants must possess a Masters or PhD in Chemistry or related field from a regionally accredited university (ABD will be considered). Familiarity with pedagogical strategies for effective teaching/learning of chemical principles. Experience teaching undergraduates, mentoring research students, and engaging with students from diverse backgrounds preferred. Willingness to provide service to help achieve departmental/institutional goals.
