The Department of Chemistry and Physics at USC Aiken seeks a full-time, assistant professor, tenure-track faculty member in analytical chemistry (broadly defined) to begin August 16, 2023. The successful candidate will demonstrate a strong commitment to teaching. Course responsibilities include quantitative analysis, instrumental analysis, and general chemistry. The teaching load for the position is 12 contact hours per semester, with a 9-month contract period. An earned doctorate in chemistry or an equivalent field by the start date is required. ABD candidates will be considered. Salary is commensurate with qualifications.  

The faculty member in this position will establish a productive research program within their area of expertise that involves undergraduate researchers. Start-up funding will be provided. State-of-the-art instrumentation is available through a combination of departmental equipment and easily-accessible USC System facilities. The department has partnerships with local industry and the Savannah River National Lab, allowing for collaborative research opportunities. Our departmental guidelines place chemical education research on an equal footing with research in traditional chemistry disciplines.

The faculty member will also advise chemistry majors, maintain departmental instrumentation, participate in faculty self-governance, and engage in service activities for the department, the University, their professional community, and/or the public.
