Job Details

The College of Sciences at the Georgia Institute of Technology invites applications from outstanding candidates to fill the Georgia Power Chair in Energy Efficiency endowed professorship. The College of Sciences, comprised of the Schools of Biological Sciences, Chemistry and Biochemistry, Earth and Atmospheric Sciences, Mathematics, Physics, and Psychology, seeks an individual that will support research for improving the way in which energy is efficiently produced, distributed, and used. The search is open with respect to research area, disciplinary focus, application domain(s), and primary activities (computation, theory, and experimentation). Relevant areas include sustainability, green chemistry, climate change, clean energy innovation, advanced materials, decarbonization, green computation, technology diffusion and societal adoption of new technologies, although all contemporary topics that address societal-grand challenges in energy efficiency are of interest. We are particularly interested in candidates that could be instrumental in establishing new companies that would stimulate economic growth within Georgia.

We encourage the application of mid-career and senior faculty, the equivalent at non-academic institutions, and exceptional assistant professors. The successful candidate will have a proven track record of cutting-edge research, be nationally or internationally recognized, and promote transformational research within their discipline. Candidates are expected to demonstrate an impactful commitment to the teaching and mentoring of diverse groups of students and the creation of inclusive training and research environment. Opportunities exist for joint appointments in other colleges at Georgia Tech to facilitate interdisciplinary research and scholarship.  A doctoral degree in a suitable discipline within their home academic unit is required.

Applications will be considered beginning January 2023 and will continue until the position is filled. Candidates should submit the following materials electronically: (i) a cover letter summarizing your interest in the position, (ii) a curriculum vitae, (iii) a description of research plans and vision, (iv) a description of teaching interests and philosophy, and (v) a description of past experiences and/or future plans to promote diversity and inclusion.
