Research Lab Supervisor - Wan Lab

We are looking to hire a lab manager in the Bond Life Sciences Center for the Xiufeng Wan Lab. This person will have excellent organizational and administrative skills. The incumbent is responsible for overseeing lab daily operation and to ensure the lab be operated in compliance to university, state, and federal regulations.

Job duties and responsibilities

• Oversee the daily bench lab operation, and supervises all functions including procedures, quality control, quality assurance, maintenance and oversees the entire function of the bench lab;

• Communicate with the PI on a consistent basis with the updates on lab operation;

• Responsible for ensuring assigned lab department is current with all university, state, and federal regulations and standards;

• Creates and maintain a positive work environment;

• Check laboratory notebook routinely and identify problems in data records;

• Maintain and update laboratory inventory, lab research protocols, and compliance (e.g. IACUC and IBC) documents;

• Receive and record orders;

• Ensure personnel have been appropriately trained and demonstrate competency prior to laboratory research;

• Establish and update policies and procedures for monitoring personnel competency in lab research;

• Identify and implement creative solutions to overcome problems;

• Strong interpersonal skills and extremely resourceful;

• Meticulous attention to detail with the ability to multi-task;

• Strong organizational, administrative, and planning skills;

• Ability to work under pressure and react effectively to emergency situations;

• Ability to work independently and as part of a team;

• Excellent documentation, communication, and computer skills (e.g., MS Office applications including Word Excel and PowerPoint);

• Passionate about both basic and translational research

• Other duties, as assigned by PI.

This position requires consistent, onsite attendance.

Salary

$48,900 – $77,042/ year

Grade: GGS 9E

Monday thru Friday, 8 a.m. – 5 p.m.

Minimum Qualifications

A Bachelor's degree or an equivalent combination of education and relevant experience and at least 2 years of experience from which comparable knowledge and skills can be acquired is necessary.

Preferred Qualifications

Prior experience in managing compliance (e.g. IACUC and IBC) documents preferred.
Strong familiarity with project management software tools, methodologies, and best practices.
