The Department of Chemistry and Biochemistry offers a BA degree in chemistry and BS degrees in both chemistry and biochemistry. The Department is accredited by the ACS-CPT and offers certified degrees in both chemistry and biochemistry. Both programs have received commendations for excellence from the South Carolina Commission on Higher Education following statewide reviews of programs in the physical and life sciences. In 2004 we graduated 38 students. We have a faculty of sixteen and currently have several active external grants (NSF-RUI, NIH-AREA, Research Corporation, and USDA).
