Additive Manufacturing Applications Engineer
In this newly created position, you will be based in Pittsburgh to provide application engineering support for our new Additive Manufacturing product line by providing product demonstrations, qualifying customer requirements, and serving as the designated technical liaison with Sales, Marketing, and the Additive Manufacturing R&D team.
Essential Responsibilities
- Provides expert application engineering support to the Sales and Product Management teams regarding the cost-effective benefits of AM
- Qualifies customer application requirements and collaborates with simulation and modeling experts to interpret functional requirements to design and manufacture parts to be optimized for performance and economics
- Prepares, edits and revises CAD models, blueprints and GD&T Participates in product demonstrations and sales presentations
- Leverages professional knowledge of the additive manufacturing value chain including but not limited to, powders, build preparation and execution, post-processing, and inspection to support customer development.
- Conducts proactive outreach to customers to ensure technical performance, productivity, and achievement of financial outcomes.
- May build customer parts to demonstrate AM products inclusive of build file preparation and machine operation.
- Develops training materials and delivers pre and post sales customer training as scheduled.
- Partners with Product Marketing and Sales to develop suitable marketing content such as white papers, webinars and other collateral.
- Assists Product Managers to maintain up to date technical data pertaining to additive manufacturing instruments and information on competitor’s instrumentation.
- Researches trade journals and attends AM conferences and trade shows to stay abreast of competitive markets and products.
Requirements
- Experienced Metallurgist with a Bachelor of Engineering degree in a specialty field of study plus 3 to 5 years of related experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience
- Must possess a working knowledge of metal additive and traditional manufacturing processes.
- Powder Bed Fusion experience is desired. EB-PBF preferred
- Knowledge of and experience with CAD and GD&T
- Requires a valid driver’s license, passport, and approximately 30% out of town/overnight travel Excellent customer service skills
