The Department of Chemistry and Biochemistry, in the School of Science, Engineering, and Health at Messiah University invites applications for a one-year visiting lecturer position to begin Fall 2023.
Responsibilities:
The primary teaching responsibilities for this position will be in general chemistry lectures, and in laboratories across the first and second years of the chemistry curriculum.
Qualifications:
A Ph.D. in chemistry or a related discipline is preferred, with preference for a background in experimental synthetic chemistry and related instrumentation. Strong candidates either ABD or with a master’s degree will also be considered. Demonstrated commitment to excellence in college teaching is a requirement. The successful candidate must be committed to best educational practices as applied to undergraduate science education and the integration of Christian faith and learning.
The Program:
Approved by the American Chemical Society, the Department of Chemistry and Biochemistry offers B.A. and B.S. degrees in Biochemistry and Chemistry, including those with ACS Certification. Pennsylvania Teaching Certification can also be awarded. Within a very collaborative environment, the department prepares students very well for graduate work in all areas of chemistry, for medical school and other allied health programs, as well as for immediate employment in industry, government or education.

The Department of Chemistry and Biochemistry is committed to academic excellence, within a context of Christian faith. There are currently 6 full-time faculty in the department, as well as a full-time laboratory manager. The Department of Chemistry and Biochemistry is one of six departments within the School of Science, Engineering and Health.
