The Department of Bioengineering invites applications for a full-time, tenure-track position. The position ranks is at the Assistant Professor level.

The Department, which is in a rapid growth phase, has recently started a concentration in Biomanufacturing within the Graduate Program in Biological and Biomedical Engineering.

The successful candidate will assist in this growth, while maintaining McGill’s international reputation of excellence in research and teaching. Candidates with demonstrated achievements in bioprocessing and biomanufacturing of biologics will be preferred.

Established in 2012, the Department of Bioengineering is the newest department to join McGill University’s Faculty of Engineering. The Department focuses on three major streams of knowledge: biological materials, mechanics, and sensing; biomolecular, cellular, and tissue engineering; and biological information and computational bioengineering.

We are seeking outstanding candidates whose research focuses on process sciences for the manufacturing and delivery of biologics in the health sector. The areas of expertise include the bioprocessing/biomanufacturing of biopharmaceuticals such as vaccines, cell and gene therapy vectors, recombinant proteins, nucleic acids (mRNA and DNA), or other biologics of public health value. Aside of these general areas of activity, the successful candidate will also have demonstrated broad knowledge and achievements in one of the areas of advanced bioprocessing, process analytical technologies and/or process digitalization. Preferably, the successful candidate will also have constituted evidence of effective teaching.

 The successful candidate will play a leading role in teaching courses in bioprocessing of biologics including cell culture engineering, downstream processing, formulation and delivery, analytical technologies, and data sciences.

Candidates must have a Ph.D. in any area of life sciences or Engineering, with preference for a first degree in engineering. Membership or eligibility for membership in a Canadian professional engineering association is required.
