Assistant/Associate Professor in Chemistry


Greenville University is seeking a full-time professor with expertise in Chemistry. The successful candidate will invigorate our major in Chemistry through a commitment to excellence in teaching and mentoring undergraduate students in a robust learning community. The selected candidate must provide evidence of a vibrant Christian faith, clearly understand and internalize the mission of Greenville University, and articulate the value of Christian higher education.

The primary responsibilities of the position include:

· Teaching Chemistry in the following areas: Physical Chemistry, General Chemistry, upper-division Analytical Chemistry courses (including Instrumental Analysis and/or Quantitative Analysis)

· The selected candidate may also contribute to teaching general education science courses.

· Supervise lab activities with a focus on lab safety.

· Providing academic and career advising to students in chemistry.

· Serving on Department and University committees.

· Performing other responsibilities as defined by the University. 


· Evidence of a commitment to excellence in undergraduate teaching and research.

· Desire to mentor undergraduate students in their course work, research, and career goals.

· Commitment to the integration of faith with the discipline.

· Commitment to competent inter-cultural teaching



· Graduate degree in Chemistry; an earned doctorate preferred

· A demonstrated, vibrant Christian faith compatible with the mission of Greenville University.

· A commitment to excellence in teaching in the context of an undergraduate, liberal arts education.

· Experience in engaging students in learning in settings that may include classroom, laboratory, and online.

· Knowledge of the field with a willingness to engage undergraduate students in research.

· Desire to mentor undergraduate students in vocational, academic, research, and career goals.

· Commitment to competent inter-cultural teaching.

· Ability to engage in critical thinking and exercise independent judgment.

· Ability to communicate effectively in written and oral forms.

Department of Biology & Chemistry:

Greenville University offers a B.A. in Chemistry, which typically serves students with interests in pre-health fields, graduate school, or industry careers. The Chemistry Program collaborates closely with Biology faculty under the Department of Biology & Chemistry. The department is well-equipped with instrumentation and also has some internal support for faculty research projects.
