The Department of Chemistry at Towson University is searching for a Visiting Assistant Professor with primary teaching responsibilities in any of the following areas (depending on the expertise of the individual):  introductory chemistry, analytical chemistry, environmental chemistry, organic chemistry, and/or forensic chemistry.  This position will start in Fall 2023 and the appointment will be for the 2023-2024 academic year.  Review of applications will begin immediately.

 

Position

The Jess and Mildred Fisher College of Science and Mathematics invites applications for a Visiting Assistant Professor in the Department of Chemistry starting August 2023.  This is a non-tenure track, 9-month position with the possibility of renewal for a second year, pending availability of funding, satisfactory performance, and departmental staffing needs.

 

Qualifications

A Ph.D. degree in chemistry or a closely related field is required.  Applicants should possess a strong commitment to excellence in teaching, and the ability to teach introductory chemistry and courses in other areas corresponding to the applicant’s expertise. Ability to mentor students in research and independent study experiences is preferred.  

 

Responsibilities

Teaching lecture and laboratory courses (approximately 8 courses per year), engaging in service activities to the department (including advising undergraduate majors), and mentoring undergraduate independent study and/or research projects.
