Voted one of the top Forensic Science degree programs in the nation, Utah Valley University's (UVU) forensic mission is to provide an engaged, multidisciplinary, exceptional forensic science education, which includes scientific research, ethical practices, and real-world experiences while upholding truth and justice within the criminal justice system. UVU's program is the only Bachelor of Forensic Science degree in the entire state of Utah in addition to being the only FEPAC accredited program west of Texas. UVU is searching for a full-time faculty member who is ready to share their knowledge and experience with our dedicated student body. This faculty member will also serve as the Program Director for our Criminalistics emphasis, where they can shape and influence the overall success of the program and students.UVU is dedicated to the engaged learning of our students, providing them the opportunity to not only learn and understand theory, but also understand how to translate that knowledge into a practical “hands-on” application. Summary of Responsibilities
Working under direction from the Department Chairperson, the individual shall perform the following duties: Instruct students enrolled in the Forensic Science Laboratory Program via in-class, on-line and hybrid methods of delivery. Courses to be taught may include a variety of forensic science topics such as: criminalistics, drug chemistry, trace analysis, forensic serology, toxicology and any other related discipline. Serve as Program Director for Forensic Laboratory Emphasis; develop and write grant requests related to Forensic Science; accept assignments and serve on department, school, and university committees; attend faculty and other meetings as assigned; perform other appropriate university and professional service; support the department's goals and work collaboratively with colleagues in the program, department, school, and university. Maintain currency in academic field(s) of expertise. Engage in professional development activities and assist in curriculum and program development. Foster and engage in collegiate relations with the community. Involve undergraduate students in research. Represent the department and the school at professional meetings and conferences. Provide an open, student-centered, inclusive classroom environment.

Minimum Qualifications
Required Qualifications

• Masters in forensic science or related scientific discipline appropriate for forensic lab and analysis work
• Three years of total experience working in a forensic laboratory or related research organization
• Management or leadership level experience in an organization related to forensic science such as a crime lab or equivalent.

Preferred Qualifications

• Doctorate in Forensic science or related scientific discipline appropriate for forensic lab and analysis work

• Evidence of effective and inclusive college-level teaching.

Knowledge, Skill, and Abilities

• Extensive knowledge and practical experience within any Criminalistics discipline, such as forensic chemistry, biology, toxicology, illicit drugs.
• Knowledge of instructional strategies and techniques for teaching subject matter
• Knowledge of and consistent use of engaged teaching techniques
• Knowledge of student management, motivation, and evaluation
• Knowledge of teaching issues, challenges, and completion strategies
• Knowledge of evaluation of instruction, curriculum development, program development and evaluation
• Skill in effective oral and written communication, class management at the college level, teaching using traditional in-class methods, teaching online, and use of other current teaching techniques
• Skill in using current technology
• Effective human relations skills and communication techniques
• Ability to develop courses in Forensic Science and assist in program development
• Ability to apply effectively general principles to specific conditions
• Ability to follow written and oral procedures and instructions
• Ability to work effectively with faculty, staff, students, and administrators from diverse ethnic, cultural, and socioeconomic backgrounds
• Ability and willingness to teach in face-to-face, hybrid, and on-line modalities
