Job Details
Kenyon College invites applications for a tenure-track position as Assistant Professor of Chemistry, to begin July 2024. Competitive candidates will have plans for an active research program rooted in experimental inorganic, physical or analytical methods, broadly defined, and a commitment to teaching excellence. The Department values familiarity with best practices in inclusive teaching and the ability to mentor undergraduate research students. A Ph.D. in Chemistry or a closely related field is required.
All application materials must be submitted electronically through Kenyon's employment website: http://careers.kenyon.edu. A complete application will include 1) a cover letter; 2) a Curriculum Vitae; 3) a ~2-page statement of the applicant's teaching philosophy; 4) a statement of the applicant’s research and scholarship; and 5) undergraduate and graduate transcripts. After an initial screening, applicants may receive a request for the contact information for three references. The application should show, in the cover letter and other documents, why the candidate would thrive teaching at Kenyon, how their research will succeed in the context of a liberal arts college, and how they will promote a culturally and intellectually diverse and inclusive educational environment. A competitive application will cite specific examples of past accomplishments and prospective ideas. Candidates are invited to include a statement in their cover letter regarding how the Covid 19 pandemic affected their career trajectory.
Review of applications will begin on September 13, 2023 and continue until the position is filled. Please direct questions to Yutan Getzler, Search Committee Chair (chemistrysearch@kenyon.edu).
