The SCHOOL OF CHEMISTRY AND BIOCHEMISTRY of the GEORGIA INSTITUTE OF TECHNOLOGY invites applications for a permanent, full time (40-hour work week) staff position working as an “Undergraduate Chemistry Laboratory Technician” (Test Technician IV). The position is suitable for a BS Chemist with experience, or an MS Chemist.
Please apply for the position by visiting the Georgia Tech CAREERS Employment website. Once there, click the link under the “External Applicants” section, then click on “View All Jobs”, type in the Job ID 261700 in the “Search Job” field and click enter. For full consideration, applications should be complete before September 15th, 2023.
This position will be expected to 1) accurately prepare and check solutions, samples and reagents for use in our upper level undergraduate chemistry laboratory courses, 2) test/calibrate laboratory instruments prior to use in courses, 3) order chemicals, supplies and materials as needed, 4) maintain and monitor chemical and equipment inventory, 5) manage chemical waste, 6) maintain the organization and cleanliness of laboratory spaces, 6) monitor laboratory processes relative to applicable safety and quality standards, 7) on occasion provide work direction to student assistants.
While this is not required, we are interested in employees who could accommodate a work schedule that ends in the late evening on one or more days a week to help support laboratory classes that end at 9 PM. This could be accomplished by starting late with a standard 8-hour work day, or by a compressed schedule including some 10 or 12-hour days. The days where a late evening end is a plus are Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday.
