Assistant Professor of Chemistry, 9-month (Tenure-Track)

Job Duties:

In addition to adhering to the general faculty guidelines, as specified by the Dean of the College of Arts and Sciences and the Provost/Vice President for Academic Affairs, duties will include:

• Teaching Organic Chemistry, Inorganic Chemistry, Analytical Chemistry, Physical Chemistry, and Biochemistry;
• Developing, delivering, and assessing innovative courses, such as green or environmental chemistry;
• Working with a diverse population of students to assist them in reaching goals and learning outcomes;
• Maintaining office hours and advising students;
• Serving on department, university, accreditation, or ad-hoc committees or subcommittees;
• Working with BIG (business, industry, government/education) partners in the region to develop programs and learning opportunities that respond to regional needs; and
• Contributing to the University's mission and assuming other professional duties and responsibilities as assigned by administrative personnel.

Required Qualifications:

QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED:
• An earned Ph.D. degree in Chemistry from a regionally accredited institution

QUALIFICATIONS PREFERRED
• Three years of college-level teaching experience

Located in historic Athens, Alabama, Athens State University offers junior and senior-level coursework to community college graduates and transfer students holding sufficient credits from other institutions.
