The Department of Chemistry at Wake Forest University expects to fill two new faculty
positions to begin July 1, 2024. We invite applications for two tenure-track faculty positions at
the Assistant Professor level in the areas of 1) experimental physical chemistry and 2)
biochemistry. We seek faculty with a commitment to the teacher-scholar model and to
enhancing the breadth, depth, and diversity of our chemistry programs. We strive for inclusivity
and seek applicants with demonstrated success or interest in working with diverse groups. We
especially encourage applications from those belonging to groups traditionally underrepresented
in the sciences.

The tenure-track position at the rank of assistant professor in physical chemistry is targeted at
candidates with a PhD (or the equivalent degree) based in the field of experimental physical
chemistry, and with an interest in teaching physical chemistry laboratory and lecture courses.
The tenure-track faculty is expected to develop an externally funded, nationally recognized
research program in experimental physical chemistry involving undergraduate and graduate
research students, with possible projects related to materials science, environmental science,
and/or analytical chemistry.

The tenure-track position at the rank of assistant professor in biochemistry is targeted at
candidates with teaching and research interests in cellular or molecular biochemistry. Applicants
must hold a Ph.D. (or equivalent) in Chemistry, Biochemistry, or a related area. Tenure-track
faculty are expected to develop and maintain a vigorous, externally funded research program.
The preferred candidate will demonstrate potential for developing synergistic interactions with
existing expertise at WFU including, but not limited to, nucleic acids, redox biology, and
epigenetics. Additionally, the candidate will be expected to support undergraduate and graduate
research students and contribute to teaching in Chemistry and Biochemistry and Molecular
Biology (BMB) programs.

We are a Ph.D. granting department whose mission is to lead in undergraduate and graduate
education and research ventures that extend beyond the traditional boundaries of chemistry.
