Ball State University welcomes application for an Assistant/Associate Full Professor of Biology or Chemistry. The College of Sciences and Humanities at Ball State University invites applications for a tenure-track faculty position at the Assistant, Associate, or Professor level in forensic science with an emphasis in biological and/or chemical forensics. The rank and tenure status for the successful candidate will be determined by the home department (biology or chemistry) in consultation with the Dean. Preference will be given to individuals with practical experience in forensic science. The program will be housed in the College of Sciences and Humanities with core participating faculty from the departments of Biology, Chemistry, Computer Science, Criminal Justice and Criminology, and Psychological Science. A Ph.D. in forensic science, biology, chemistry, or a closely related field is required at the time of appointment.

Position Function:
Teaching responsibilities comprise introductory and advanced courses in forensic science and/or courses in content areas that contribute to the forensic science program. Other teaching could include undergraduate and/or graduate courses in the home department. Applicants are expected to possess a strong commitment to excellence in teaching at the undergraduate level and provide leadership in further forensic science program development. The selected candidate will also be expected to develop and maintain an independent and active research program, mentor student researchers, and provide service to the profession, university, and program.
Minimum Qualifications:
- An earned Doctorate degree appropriate for a forensic science program, preferably in biology, chemistry, or a related field. Research experience in a forensic science discipline or in methods and techniques adapted, supported, and employed by the forensic science community. Excellent written and oral communication skills. Employer will consider sponsorship.
Preferred Qualifications:
- The ability to establish effective collaborative relationships with a diverse range of internal and external populations. Record of successful teaching in a college/university environment. Established scholarship record in biology and/or chemistry with applications in forensic science.
Required Certifications/Licensures:
- PhD by time of appointment.
