Position Details

The Department of Chemistry and Biochemistry in the College of Natural & Health Sciences at The University of Tampa invites applications for a full-time, 9-month renewable, non-tenure track teaching position at the Assistant Teaching Professor level beginning in August 2024. This is a continuing non-tenure track position with opportunities for promotion.

This position will have teaching and service requirements. Primary teaching responsibilities are in introductory chemistry for science majors (General Chemistry I and/or II lecture and/or labs) and non-science major courses. Areas of expertise for these positions are open to all areas of chemistry or chemistry-related fields.

The Department of Chemistry and Biochemistry consists of approximately 30 full-time faculty and academic staff members and more than 240 majors. The Department awards degrees exclusively at the undergraduate level in Chemistry, Biochemistry, Forensic Science, and Marine Chemistry. Students may pursue degrees certified by the American Chemical Society (ACS) or accredited by the American Society for Biochemistry and Molecular Biology (ASBMB) or the Forensic Science Education Programs Accreditation Commission (FEPAC). About 30 majors graduate from the Department annually.

Qualifications

PhD preferred (strong ABD candidates considered); prior teaching experience with undergraduates is desirable. A personal commitment to quality undergraduate teaching and advising within a culturally diverse student population is essential.
