Faculty Joint Appointment in Structural Biology

The Department of Chemistry and the Department of Pharmacology, Physiology & Biophysics at Boston University invite applications from highly qualified candidates for a joint Assistant Professor tenure track position in Structural Biology, beginning July 1, 2024. Candidates with research that uses Cryo-EM, X-ray crystallography, and image analysis and processing to solve macromolecular structures and that integrates with strengths in the departments are encouraged to apply. Successful applicants will benefit from the departments’ supportive and collegial environment and develop a dynamic research program that facilitates collaborations between the Department of Chemistry on the Charles River Campus (CRC) and the newly formed Department of Pharmacology, Physiology& Biophysics on the Chobanian & Avedisian School of Medicine campus. This unique, cross-campus joint appointment will allow access to facilities housed on both campuses, including a high-resolution ThermoFisher Glacios-2 Cryo-EM and a Bruker IµS DIAMOND Cu X-ray source with a state-of-the-art CPAD detector. This appointment will be conducive to collaborations with faculty affiliated with the Center for Molecular Discovery, the Biological Design Center, the National Emerging Infectious Disease Laboratories, and with engineering, medical, and basic science departments on both campuses. Undergraduate teaching responsibilities will be in the Department of Chemistry and will include courses in biochemistry or biophysical chemistry, with graduate teaching possible on the medical campus in the candidate’s area(s) of expertise.
