The Department of Chemistry at the University of North Texas (UNT) located in Denton, Texas invites applications for a tenure-track position at the rank of Assistant or Associate Professor in the broad area of synthetic organic chemistry, to begin September 1, 2024. Candidates should have a record of published research, a strong commitment to research and teaching, and compelling ideas for an independent research program in any area of synthetic organic chemistry, including but not limited to synthetic methods development, medicinal chemistry, and polymer synthesis. Development of a nationally and internationally visible, funded research program is expected. Applicants should have a Ph.D. in chemistry or a related field, with postdoctoral experience preferred. The new faculty member will have access to substantial shared instrumentation resources for chemical analysis and may pursue collaborative opportunities through the BioDiscovery Institute (BDI, https://bdi.unt.edu/), the Advanced Materials and Manufacturing Processes Institute (AMMPI, https://ammpi.unt.edu/), and other multi-departmental efforts.

UNT is located in Denton, a cultural hot spot on the northern edge of the Dallas-Fort Worth Metroplex, one of the fastest growing metropolitan areas in the country. The UNT Chemistry Department is currently in a growth phase, with plans to hire up to six additional tenure-track faculty members in the next few years. Current research strengths include materials chemistry, computational chemistry, and catalysis, as well as a growing interdisciplinary emphasis on chemical biology.
