The Stanford Chemistry Department invites applications for a Ph.D.-level Lecturer position to begin autumn 2024 to join a team of 4 other Lecturers in the Department. The candidate should have a strong background in any area of chemistry and a passion for teaching. This position is a full-time, 9-month, fixed-term, full-benefit appointment, with the possibility of optional summer teaching opportunities. The initial appointment is for 2 years, with reappointment terms of 3 years. The teaching duties vary quarterly between instructing independent laboratories to co-instructing in an integrated lecture/laboratory course with a faculty member, generally within the general, organic, and bio-chemistry courses. As the department has moved toward active learning, the ideal candidate will also be involved in developing and evaluating new active learning materials. In addition to instruction, the candidate will be responsible for evolving laboratory exercises, mentoring course teaching assistants, and participating in Department committees, as appropriate. Applicants should submit a cover letter, curriculum vitae, teaching philosophy (1 page), and at least 2 letters of recommendation addressing their teaching and/or administrative abilities.
The expected base pay range for this position is $84,000 – $96,500.

The pay offered to the selected candidate will be determined based on factors including (but not limited to) the qualifications of the selected candidate, budget availability, and internal equity.
