Responsibilities:
- Teach the equivalent of a six-course load per year, including introductory chemistry courses as well as upper-division courses consistent with the background and interests of the candidate Contribute to innovation in undergraduate Chemistry education Engage in scholarly work in Chemistry or Chemistry education Lead and supervise student research projects Participate in academic advising, committee work, and other departmental activities as required
- Live out a commitment to the liberal arts educational mission and Christian orientation of the University Contribute to an academic environment that seeks to advance inclusive excellence in the department and the discipline
Skills:
- Ability to teach chemistry to undergraduate majors and non-majors, and to students from a variety of socio-economic, ethnic, and cultural backgrounds Ability to lead a research program involving undergraduates Demonstrated ability to collaborate and work as a member of a team Strong interest in integrating faith and learning Understanding of and commitment to Bethel’s efforts to develop as an inclusive university community
Experience:
Chemistry teaching experience at the college level strongly preferred
Education:
PhD in Chemistry or Chemical Education required; specialization in Organic or Polymer Chemistry preferred
