9-month academic year contract plus 3-month summer pay to commensurate with the 12-month responsibility of teach general chemistry and managing the lab instructional program
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
The Department of Chemistry and Biochemistry is seeking to fill a lecturer/lab coordinator position immediately. This position has a teaching load of one general chemistry course per semester; a year-round responsibility of managing the lab instructional program by coordinating available instructional lab resources, teaching faculty, and teaching assistants to support the instructional mission of the Department of Chemistry and Biochemistry.
Major Duties and Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- 1:1 course instruction load.
- Design and execute new laboratory curriculum.
- Participate in pedagogical discussions with the Director of General Chemistry.
- Develop laboratory syllabi and schedule for the general chemistry lab program.
- Coordinate TA training.
- Oversee general chemistry TA performance and provide advice/solutions for problems.
- Develop, update, enforce, and revise lab safety policies.
- Work with the Accessibility and Disability Resource Center (ADRC) to meet the needs of students with course accommodations.
- Coordinate logistic supports for all lab courses.
Qualifications
- PhD in Chemistry or related field.
- Experience in laboratory program management is preferred.
