LSU’s Gordon and Mary Cain Department of Chemical Engineering seeks applicants for a tenure-track assistant professor position. While no specific research focus is required, a successful candidate will develop an internationally-known research group that is aligned with LSU’s strategic plan. Job Description

Responsible for teaching graduate and undergraduate courses in chemical engineering, leading a productive research group, and providing service to the university and professional community. 

45%  Teach undergraduate and graduate chemical engineering courses.

45%  Lead a recognized and sustainable research program, which results in procuring external funding and leads to publications in peer-reviewed journals, along with associated service in support of the research mission and reputation of the unit. Supervising graduate student research.

10%  Provide service to LSU, the chemical engineering profession and the community.

Minimum Qualifications:

PhD in chemical engineering or equivalent degree in Chemical Engineering or closely related field.   Ph.D. candidates will be considered, as long as the Ph.D. is obtained by August 15, 2024.

About the Department             

The Cain Department of Chemical Engineering is one of the first programs of its kind with roots in the Audubon Sugar School (1885).  The Department recently relocated to a new building and benefits from a strong alumni base, over $25 million in endowments, and approximately $10 million in recent awards related to energy and sustainable chemical manufacturing.   At present, the Department  includes 17 tenure and tenure-track professors (all with named professorships or chairs), 4 Professionals in Residence and 4 part-time or emeritus instructors.
