Job Details
Widener University is currently seeking an Assistant Professor of Chemistry in the College of Arts and Sciences starting in the 2024 academic year. The successful candidate will have a strong commitment to excellence in undergraduate teaching. Teaching duties will include introductory chemistry courses and laboratories for both science/ engineering majors and for non-science majors, as well as upper-level chemistry courses and laboratories in the area of the candidate’s specialty. The successful candidate is also expected to engage undergraduate students in an active research program.
Widener’s chemistry department is a proud signer of Beyond Benign’s Green Chemistry Commitment and is invested in the teaching of green chemistry across our curriculum. Experience in green chemistry is beneficial.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES (including, but not limited to):
Essential duties:
- Teaching, professional development relating to research programs conducted with undergraduate students, publication of research activities, and academic citizenship at all levels within the university.
Secondary responsibilities:
- Advising majors
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS (education/training and experience required):
Required:
- Demonstrated commitment to undergraduate education and a PhD in chemistry or a chemistry-related discipline. ABD candidates may be considered if the degree will be completed by May 2024.
