The University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point Chemistry Department seeks applications for a tenure-track position in biochemistry at the assistant professor level. The appointment will begin in August 2024. This is a nine-month faculty position based at the Stevens Point campus and involves courses primarily taught in person. The teaching load is 12 student credit hours per semester (24 student credit hours/year). The successful candidate will teach courses in general chemistry and biochemistry. Additional responsibilities include the development of a productive experimental research program involving undergraduates, student advising, and department, school, college, and university-level service.

The Department of Chemistry is part of the School of Biology, Chemistry, and Biochemistry in the College of Letters and Science (https://www.uwsp.edu/sbcb/school-of-biology-chemistry-and-biochemistry/). The department is housed in the Chemistry Biology Building on the UWSP main campus and includes facilities on the Wausau and Marshfield campuses. The Chemistry Biology Building recently opened in 2018 and contains state-of-the-art facilities. The department is home to 16 full-time faculty representing a wide range of subdisciplines.  Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

• Ph.D. in Biochemistry or a closely related field
• Experience with and/or demonstrated commitment to high-quality undergraduate education.
• Experience with and/or demonstrated commitment to involving undergraduate students in research.
• Commitment to working successfully with a diverse student population.

Preferred Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

• Postdoctoral experience in Biochemistry or a related field
• Demonstrated potential for developing and sustaining an independent, laboratory based, externally funded research program involving undergraduate students.
• Demonstrated potential for effective student-centered and inclusive teaching in biochemistry at the undergraduate level, including a commitment to academic best practices.
